Trail News:

If you have driven on Hwy 13 outside of Elkader you may have noticed some construction happening along the bluff. That is the start of the Pony Hollow Trail expansion. Unfortunately it will not be ready for 2026 race day but we are hopefully next year we will be using the full trail! It is thanks to all of you that have donated and participated in our race that this trail expansion is becoming a reality and we are so excited for you to see it finished!

Race Details:

Clayton County Conservation invites you to the 8th Annual Pony Hollow Trail 5k on October 24, 2026. It has been decided to not do the 15k this year while the new portion of the trail is under construction. But in 2027 a whole new distance and route for the race will be announced!

Race swag are only guaranteed to all those that pre-register before October 12th. No extras will be ordered. All online registrations close at 1 pm on October 23rd. Mailed in registrations must also be received by Oct. 23rd.

5k: $25 thru Oct. 23, $30 on race day

Race Bib pickup and day-of registration will be from 7:30-8:45am on race day at the Floral Hall shelter house located in the Elkader City Park. There is also parking and bathrooms located in this area for your convenience.

Race will start promptly at 9 AM near the south trailhead.

No parking will be allowed on High Street. Please use the city park, pool parking lot, or football field parking.

The funds raised from this race will be used for the trail expansion efforts to join the two Pony Hollow trail heads into a continuous loop as well as maintenance of the trail. Most of the funds have been secured through private donations and grant dollars; Wellmark Large Match Grant, Upper Mississippi Gaming Grant, TAP, Enhance Iowa, and Black Hills Energy. C.J. Moyna & Sons are the general contractors of the project.
