“Fossil Prairie Park and Preserve”

9:00 a.m. Thursday, October 21st

Reservations Required Osborne Nature Center

Clayton County Conservation is pleased to announce the next Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls. This year’s theme is “O.W.L.S Favorites” and programs take inspiration from past favorites to offer participants a wide variety of topics. For October’s trip O.W.L.S. will visit the “Fossil and Prairie Park and Preserve” at Rockford, Iowa on October 21st. The shuttle will leave Osborne at 9:00 a.m.

The trip to the Fossil Prairie Park and Preserve will include a short introductory tour followed by a chance to collect fossils at their quarry. Most of the fossils currently found at the Fossil & Prairie Park Preserve are marine invertebrates from the shallow sea environment of the Devonian Period, 365 million years ago when Iowa was an inland sea.

Optional lunch at a local restaurant will follow the program. Please make reservations by calling (563) 245-1516 or visit the Osborne Nature Center.
