The next Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls program will be on Tuesday, June 18th. This year’s theme is “NEIA Farm and Ag Tour”, and June’s program will be a visit to Turkey River Farm near Elkader. Please meet at Osborne Park at 10:00 to carpool to our destination for a tour at 10:30.
Pete Kerns and Natasha Hegmann began Turkey River Farm in 2015 as an effort to bring fresh and local produce to their Northeast Iowan neighbors. They have built their business up to 100-member Community Supported Agriculture shares (CSA’s). They also recently added the greenhouse in Elkader and expand their business to include bedding plants, perennials, workshops, and more. The visit will include a luncheon prepared at Turkey River Farm. Join this fun day at their farm for a tour and learning adventure while we sample some locally grown foods.
