About the Event
Clayton County Conservation is pleased to announce the next Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls. This year’s theme is “O.W.L.S Favorites” and programs take inspiration from past favorites to offer participants a wide variety of topics and trips. This month’s program will be a hike at the Kleve- Schneider Fen, a Clayton County Conservation Board property. The event will be held on Thursday, June 17th. Please meet at Osborne at 10:00 a.m.
Participants will take a hike with naturalist Abbey through one of Clayton County’s most unusual properties. A fen is a special type of wetland with unique hydrology and PH that create an unusual environment where rare species thrive that often cannot be found in other wetlands. Make sure to dress for the weather, walking through brush, and getting your feet wet or muddy in this natural area. Long pants and waterproof shoes are recommended. This hike will take about an hour.
Please meet at Osborne at 10:00 a.m. for a car caravan to the fen. After the program there will be the option of lunch at a local restaurant for those who wish to dine out. Register by calling (563) 245-1516 or visit www.claytoncountyconservation.org.
In response to the pandemic, we are asking participants to drive themselves to our field trip locations and encourage masks when social distancing cannot be maintained.
