invites you to visit and enjoy the natural resources and recreational opportunities in Clayton County.

Iowa's County Conservation Board System startd in 1955. Clayton County's Conservation Board continues to strive to meet the goals outlined in the Iowa Code (acquire, develop, maintain, and make available to the citizens of the county forests, wildlife, and other conservation areas. To promote and preserve the general welfare of the people). The Clayton County Conservation Board manages some 1000 acres.

VOLUNTEER AWARDS 


At this year’s Iowa Association of County Conservation Board Employees Winterfest Convention, the efforts of two of our volunteers were recognized.

Larry Stone of Elkader received the Aldo Leopold Lifetime Achievement Award for Environmental Education in Iowa.

Larry is a member of the Clayton County Conservation Board and is an outdoor writer and photographer.

Don Dunbar of Volga received Iowa’s Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award for Environmental Education

Don has assisted with field trips and public programs at Osborne for over 20 years.

Entry Fee of $5 per photo
Maximum of 5 photos per person
Submit 8x10 developed photos taken in NE Iowa (Allamakee, Clayton, Dubuque, Fayette or Winneshiek Counties)
Deadline is September 30th; Winners announced Heritage Days 2012
Grand Prize Photo will be auctioned off during the 2012 Heritage Days Auction

Please buy your firewood LOCALLY, BURN IT ALL before you leave and
DO NOT take it home.
