Volunteer Opportunities at the Osborne
Center
The Clayton
County Conservation Board is always in need of volunteers. The following
are listings of where volunteers are utilized in our facilities. If you would
like to volunteer, please call 563-245-1516 or email the Osborne Center.
Iowa Room: Volunteers are needed to work in the gift shop and to attend to
customers on the weekends.

Gardeners:
In front of the Osborne Center is a large garden. Gardeners are needed to
maintain these areas.

Hunter
Safety Education: The Osborne Center hosts two hunter education
classes. Instructors are needed to teach students about hunting safety in
the state.

Public
Programs: There are dozens of public programs that need volunteers.
During Heritage Days, volunteers are
needed to maintain the information booth and run the gift shop. Bakers and actors
are needed to help create a fun Holiday Walk on the first Thursday of
December each year.

School
Programs: Volunteers are needed to help teach nature walks and lead
animal pen tours.
Employment Opportunities
Each
year in early spring, the Clayton County Conservation Board hires seasonal employees:
1. Office assistant (1) whose duties include assisting administrative personnel in the Welcome
Center and Nature Center. Average 25-30 hours per week; $7.25 per hour;
weekends required.
2. Seasonal
naturalists (2) will work with the Clayton County Naturalists on a wide variety of
environmental education programs. $7.25 per hour, 40 hours per week, 14
weeks. Some weekend and night hours are required.
3. Seasonal maintenance workers (4) will work under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor and
will assist with maintenance and development of the county parks. $7.25
per hour; 40 hours per week, 14 weeks.
